Fabric Formwork Wall
Facilitators: Wilfred Meynell, Phillip Wells, Alan Chandler & Malishev-Wilson Engineers
The project is to build a 1.5 metre retaining wall almost thirty metres long at Small hopes Farm in rural Norfolk – to create the largest fabric formed concrete structure in the UK.
The project was experimental in its construction technique; although it would not be the first fabric formed concrete wall in the UK it was the longest to be constructed. The wall was to be completed over a two-week period in the north Norfolk countryside on a remote residential site, the experimental fabric frame construction meant that we faced tough challenges in completing the wall within the two-week deadline.
